Grand Rapids Rampage News Release

The Grand Rapids Rampage has announced the hiring of Scott Woodruff to the newly created position of General Manager of Business Operations.

Woodruff, who brings nine years of AFL experience - including six in Grand Rapids, re-joins the Rampage after spending the 2005 season with the Chicago Rush. As the General Manager of Business Operations, Woodruff will oversee all business facets of the team while linking football operations with the business side of the organization.

"We are thrilled to have Scott back in Grand Rapids leading the charge for the Rampage," said Rampage Chief Operating Officer Scott Gorsline. "He brings a wealth of experience with and passion for Arena Football, the Rampage, and the West Michigan community. He is the perfect person for this job."

"This is my dream job," Woodruff noted about his new position. "I spent six terrific years with the Rampage and look forward to serving the Grand Rapids community again."

Since the Rampage's ArenaBowl Championship season of 2001, the AFL has become a hyper-competitive league which features owners such as the Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, Tennessee Titans and the Atlanta Falcons. "The competitive landscape of this league has dramatically changed," Woodruff commented, "in order to compete, we need to change too. We have to be more resourceful than ever before in attracting fans, corporate partners and players - it all works hand-in-hand."

Woodruff's previous tenure with the team ran from 1998-2004, a time when the Rampage regularly set franchise records in corporate partnership sales and attendance. As the Executive Director of Development, Woodruff was in charge of overseeing all aspects of the team's sales, public relations and brand development. He left Grand Rapids in 2004 to accept a similar position with the Chicago Rush, one of the league's premier organizations.

"The time I spent in Chicago helped prepare me for this opportunity," Woodruff said. "The Rush is a first-class organization and I learned a tremendous amount from my time with them."

Prior to his time in Grand Rapids, Woodruff served as the corporate marketing manager for the AFL's Portland Forest Dragons (1997-98).

A native of Newport Beach, California, Woodruff received his bachelor's degree from Mankato State University and a master's in business administration from Washington State University. He and his wife Sarah reside in Ada with their daughter Claire.
