Grand Rapids Rampage News Release
It has been an active off season for Grand Rapids Rampage equipment manager Johnathan Katona. After the team's 1-15 season, he assisted with the Cape Fear Wildcats of arenafootball2 as their equipment manager before accepting a position as an equipment intern with the NFL's New York Jets.
Monday was his first day with the Jets as they prepare to open training camp up on Friday at Hofstra University. Katona spent all day shining helmets and breaking in footballs. Jets head coach Herman Edwards and starting quarterback Chad Pennington welcomed Katona and the rest of the support staff.
Katona will assist the Jets for training camp and all four pre-season games. Following his two-month internship, Katona is expecting to return to Grand Rapids to resume his role as Rampage equipment manager and help the new head coach and his staff prepare for the 2005 season.
