Grand Rapids Rampage News Release

DENVER -- In a back-and-forth contest that featured six lead changes, just a few plays turned the see-saw game into a 66-54 Grand Rapids Rampage loss to the defending ArenaBowl champion Colorado Crush at the Pepsi Center in front of 14,597.

With the scored knotted at 20 midway through the second quarter, Rampage QB Chad Salisbury was sacked for a safety giving Colorado a 22-20 advantage and the ball back which led to a field goal.

After a Salisbury touchdown to Tim Martin with Grand Rapids up 27-25, the Rampage saw a potential 34-25 lead turn into a 31-27 deficit. Colorado QB John Dutton mishandled a snap and fumbled at the Crush goal line. In the ensuing scramble to pick up the loose ball, Chris Avery looked like he was going t scoop with the ball for a would-be Rampage touchdown, but he could not handle it and Dutton fell on it at the Crush two-yard line. Two plays later Dutton connected with Andy McCullough for a 17-yard score.

Another momentum-changing play occurred on Grand Rapids' first possession of the second half when the team failed to convert a fourth and five at the Crush 14. Four plays later, the Crush went up by eleven when John Dutton connected with Ahmad Hawkins. From there, the two teams traded touchdowns the rest of the game.

Salisbury set new career passing marks for completions and passing yards after completing 30-of-42 for 350 yards with six touchdowns and a passer rating of 132.04. The 350 passing yards is the third-most by a Rampage QB since Clint Dolezel had 402 and 358 in back-to-back games in 2001.

Anthony Hines, in his first game at offensive specialist this season, caught 12 passes for 169 yards and four touchdowns. Hines replaced Aaron Bailey, who was placed on injured reserve last week. The four receiving scores by Hines were the most by a Rampage player in nearly three years (Terrill Shaw had four against Arizona on April 19, 2003). His 169 yards are the fifth-most by a Rampage player in team history.

Timon Marshall had 185 all-purpose yards, which put him over 1,000-yard mark on the season. He finished with nine receptions for 93 yards and a touchdown along with seven kickoff returns for 92 additional yards. On the season, he has 1,056 all-purpose yards.

Former Rampage Willis Marshall was named the Ironman of the Game after compiling 275 all-purpose yards and a touchdown. He returned seven kickoffs for 198 yards which gave the Crush great field position all day.

The Rampage concludes a three-game road trip this Friday, March 10 when the team travels to Las Vegas to take on the Gladiators at the Thomas & Mack Center, which will be the site of ArenaBowl XX. Kickoff is slated for 10:30 p.m. and can be heard live on WBFX 101.3 FM with Joe Parson calling all the action.
