Grand Rapids Rampage News Release
The Grand Rapids Rampage today announced a new two-year radio broadcasting agreement with Clear Channel Communications to broadcast home and away games for the 2006 and 2007 Rampage seasons on WBFX 101.3 FM (The Fox). All 16 Rampage regular season games, plus any playoff contests, are scheduled for broadcast on The Fox and will be available online via streaming audio on RampageFootball.com.
As part of this new, multi-faceted agreement, The Fox will become the "flagship station" for Rampage games -- giving Rampage fans a clear 50,000-watt signal and provide them with an unprecedented stereo sound. Joe Parson and Tom Sullivan are expected to return for their eighth season describing all the Rampage action.
"This new arrangement is great news for Rampage fans around West Michigan," said Bob Sack, Senior Vice President of DP Fox Sports, which owns the Rampage. "The power and quality of The Fox signal will reach a wide geographical area with a crystal-clear sound. Additionally, we're anticipating promotional and broadcast opportunities with Clear Channel's family of West Michigan stations."
Clear Channel owns and operates a nationwide portfolio of radio stations, including seven Grand Rapids area stations (four FM, three AM). These stations are: WBCT-FM 93.7 (country), WVTI-FM 96.1 (adult contemporary), WBFX-FM 101.3 (classic rock), WSNX-FM 104.5 (contemporary hits), WOOD-FM 105.7 (adult contemporary), WTKG-AM 1230 (talk) and WOOD-AM 1300 (news/talk). WBFX broadcasts NASCAR. WOOD-AM 1300 is the flagship station for Grand Rapids Griffins (American Hockey League) hockey and the West Michigan affiliate for University of Michigan football and basketball. WTKG carries Western Michigan University football and basketball along with high school sports.
"We're delighted to be partnering with the Rampage and Arena Football," said Skip Essick, President and General Manager of Clear Channel's Grand Rapids office. "The sport continues to gain popularity and profile around the country and here in West Michigan. Plus, this new deal builds nicely on our relationship with DP Fox Sports and the Griffins."
Rampage 2006 season tickets are now on sale. To reserve season tickets for eight games of hard-hitting, high scoring, non-stop Rampage football on Centennial Wireless Field at Van Andel Arena, call the Rampage offices at 1.888.595.4878 or log on to RampageFootball.com.
