FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE THURSDAY, MAY 3, 2018
STOCKTON, Calif. - Roberto Ramos hit a two-run home run in the first inning, his team-leading seventh of the season, to help the JetHawks to an 8-4 win over the Stockton Ports on Thursday afternoon at Banner Island Ballpark.
Ramos later added a double and finished the four-game series at Stockton 8-for-16 with a double, a triple and three home runs. He ranks second in the Cal League in homers.
The JetHawks (15-13) scored early and often against Stockton starter Zack Erwin (2-2). Carlos Herrera doubled home a run in the second, and with the 3-2 in the fourth, Lancaster added three more on an Alan Trejo two-run double and Colton Welker RBI-single. Welker extended his hitting streak to 11 games, while Trejo extended his to nine.
Logan Longwith (1-2) allowed four runs on three hits over five innings to earn his first win of the season.
Erwin was chased by the JetHawks in the fifth. He gave up six runs on seven hits with five walks and two hit batters.
Stockton (17-11) stayed close, and the JetHawks took a 6-4 lead into the eighth inning before breaking it open. Trejo hit a two-run home run in the eighth and Herrera added a three-run home run in the ninth. The two combined for eight RBI on the afternoon.
Heath Holder (2.0 IP), Salvador Justo (1.0 IP) and Reid Humphreys (1.0 IP) combined on four innings of scoreless baseball out of the bullpen with just one hit allowed.
After losing the first two games of the series, the JetHawks ended up salvaging a series split.
Lancaster returns home to host the San Jose Giants in the first game of a three-game series on Friday night at The Hangar. Brandon Gold (3-1) starts for the JetHawks against left-hander Mac Marshall (0-0). First pitch is 6:35 p.m.
