SAN JOSE, CA - Logan Webb, DJ Myers and Patrick Ruotolo combined on a five-hitter and the Giants offensively used key hits with runners in scoring position to post a 4-1 victory over the Visalia Rawhide on Wednesday evening at Municipal Stadium. With the win, San Jose (16-11) has taken two out of the first three games in the series.

Jalen Miller (3-for-5, 2 2B, RBI) knocked out three hits, including a pair of doubles, to lead the Giants at the plate. Brandon Van Horn (2-for-4, 2 RBI) added two hits while Matt Winn (1-for-3) and Johneshwy Fargas (1-for-4, 2B) each extended their hitting streaks to nine games.

Myers (2-1) earned the win after tossing four scoreless innings of long relief. The right-hander, who entered the game to begin the top of the fifth, allowed three hits, walked two and struck out three. Ruotolo struck out two in a perfect top of the ninth inning for his third save of the year.

Logan Webb started on the mound for San Jose and began his night with two scoreless innings. Visalia then pushed across their only run of the contest in the top of the third. With one out, Raymel Flores hit a grounder to first that was fielded by Gio Brusa, but his flip to Webb covering at the bag was dropped by the pitcher for an error. A wild pitch then advanced Flores all the way to third before a walk to Camden Duzenack. Marcus Wilson then stepped to the plate and hit a sacrifice fly to right plating Flores for a 1-0 Rawhide advantage.

The Giants though immediately tied the game with a run of their own in the bottom of the third. With one out, Fargas blasted a double to the fence in deep left center. Then with two down, Miller laced a double down the left field line to easily score Fargas with the tying run.

Webb finished his night holding Visalia off the board in the top of the fourth pitching around a leadoff walk to keep the game tied. Webb allowed just one unearned run on two hits over a season-high four innings of work. He walked two and struck out three during his 64-pitch outing.

Following a scoreless top of the fifth thrown by Myers, San Jose took their first lead of the night with a run in the bottom of the frame. After the first two batters of the inning were retired, Miller again doubled down the left field line. Wander Franco was up next and he grounded a double down the right field line to score Miller giving the Giants a 2-1 lead.

Myers then cruised through a 1-2-3 top of the sixth before San Jose pushed across two more runs in the bottom of the inning. Sandro Fabian was hit by a pitch to start the rally before a Brusa infield single put runners on first and second. Winn followed with a bunt single to load the bases with none out before Van Horn grounded a sharp single through the hole on the left side scoring two runs to stretch the lead to 4-1.

In the top of the seventh, Myers issued a one-out walk to Luis Silverio before Duzenack singled with two outs to bring the potential tying run to the plate. Myers though came back to retire Wilson on a groundout to shortstop ending the threat. Myers then completed his outing in the eighth pitching around a two-out single.

With the score still at 4-1, Ruotolo was summoned from the bullpen to begin the top of the ninth and promptly set down Mark Karaviotis on a fly out to left before consecutive swinging strikeouts of Silverio and Flores ended the game.

Rawhide starter Bo Takahashi (3-1) suffered the loss after yielding four runs (all earned) on five hits over five-plus innings of work. Takahashi walked two and struck out seven.
