Halifax Rainmen News Release
The Halifax Rainmen are proud to announce the signing of Ivan Harris, pending FIBA clearance. A 6'7 forward out of Ohio State University, who was nicknamed "The Microwave" during his time as a Buckeye, for his ability to heat up quickly and knock down shots from all over the court. Harris played 127 games over four seasons at Ohio State from 2003-07, averaging 5.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.6 assists, and shot over 40% from 3. In his Senior season at OSU (2006-07). Harris averaged 7.6 points and 3.3 rebounds in 39 games for a Buckeyes squad (that also featured NBA players Greg Oden, Mike Conley Jr, and Daequan Cook) that went 35-4, won the Big 10 regular season and tournament, and were runner-ups for the 2007 NCAA National Championship. Since graduating from Ohio State, Harris has played professionally in Finland, Romania, Australia and the NBA D-League. He led his team to a Finnish Championship in 2007-08, averaging 12.7 points on over 42% shooting from the three point line. He also appeared in 99 games with the Erie Bayhawks from 2008-10, averaging 14.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. In 2008-09, he played 50 games with Erie, averaging 15.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and shooting 43% from NBA three point range.
Rainmen coach Chris Terrell expressed his excitement over having Harris join the Rainmen, releasing the following statement- "Ivan is a complete pro that has proven it with high-level play in Europe, Australia and Asia over the past few years. Ivan possess skills that NBA teams seek, especially his rare combination of size (6'7), with the ability to shoot the NBA 3 with excellent accuracy. While he may have been overshadowed by his star teammates at Ohio State, his ability to stretch the floor and draw opposing forwards out beyond the arc is part of the reason why Oden, Conley and Cook were so successful in the NCAA. He's going to be a big part of our success in Halifax this season."
