
Rainmen Keep Championship Dreams Alive in Thrilling Victory

(HALIFAX, NS) The Halifax Rainmen kept their dream of winning the inaugural National Basketball League of Canada championship dreams alive when they defeated the London Lightning by a score of 95-93 in front of a boisterous crowd of 3,933 fans. The Rainmen are now 1-2 in the final series.
While the Rainmen were down five points with one minute left to play in the game, the pivotal moment came when Joey Haywood hit a three-point shot, followed by a steal and reverse layup by Lawrence Wright.
Leading the Rainmen to their incredible win was Chris Hagan with 16 points, followed by NBL Canada All-Star co-captain Joey Haywood with 15. Lawrence Wright and Tyrone Levett netted 14 each.
Tim Ellis led the Lightning with a game-high 22 points and 11 rebounds, followed by Gabe Freeman with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Eddie Smith had 19 points for the Lightning. The box score statistics can be found below.
The Rainmen will return to their home court at the Halifax Metro Centre tomorrow evening at 7 p.m., where they will play another do-or-die game against the Lightning in an attempt to tie the series and force game five taking place this Sunday in London.
Tickets for game four at the Halifax Metro Centre go on sale tomorrow morning at all Ticket Atlantic locations and the Metro Centre Box Office. Tomorrow's game will also be broadcast live on EastLink TV.
