East Texas PumpJacks News Release

The Pump Jacks were scheduled to play the Texas Marshals in Plano Friday night and the Woodlands Strykers Saturday evening. Instead, the Jacks will take their 1-0 record to The Woodlands Sunday for a doubleheader, leaving soggy Plano behind.

The Texas rain just won't go away, taking the East Texas Pump Jacks' Friday and Saturday contests in its wake. Thursday night's torrential downpour, which cut short the season-opening 3-1 victory by the Pump Jacks, left Graham Field too wet to play Friday. The game has been postponed until Tuesday, June 16, when the Pump Jacks will visit Plano. Game time will be 7:05 p.m.

Meanwhile, The Woodlands has been hit hard by rain all week, forcing the Strykers to postpone their Saturday game against the Pump Jacks. The two clubs will play a doubleheader Sunday at Strykers Stadium, with the first game getting underway at 5:05 p.m.- weather permitting, of course.

The Pump Jacks walked away from the downpour last night in Plano with a 3-1 victory when the game was called after five innings. First basemen Alex Bell drove in two with a single in the top of the first, giving starting pitcher Eddie Dionne all the cushion he needed.

Center fielder James Lear drove in the third run when he hit a bouncer with the bases loaded. Dionne struck out four through three scoreless innings before being replace by Mike Crimi.

After a Monday day off, the Pump Jacks are scheduled to visit the defending-champion Brazos Valley Bombers in Bryan on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Jacks return to East Texas for their first-ever home game in Tyler next Thursday, June 4, when they welcome the Acadiana Cane Cutters to Irwin UT Tyler Ballpark.
