Cleburne Railroaders News Release

CLEBURNE, Texas - The Cleburne Railroaders have signed RHP Torey Deshazier, the club announced Wednesday.

Deshazier, 24, is a native of Pine Bluff, Ark. and spent parts of five seasons with the Kansas City Royals organization.

Deshazier has a career 13-14 record and 5.21 ERA over 81 appearances and 20 starts in his professional career. He most recently pitched in 2016 with Single-A Lexington, going 1-2 with a 5.31 ERA in 19 relief appearances. He pitched collegiately at Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock, Ark.

The Deshazier signing is part of a flurry of moves the Railroaders have made near the midway point of the season. Cleburne also signed former RedHawks catcher Quinn Irey, a rookie who just finished his career at the University of Jamestown in Jamestown, ND. Irey collected his first hit as a Railroader in Tuesday's game at Texas.

Cleburne has also had significant contributions from Angel Rosa, who has two homers and six RBI in his first week with the club. Rosa was acquired as part of a trade with Kansas City last Monday.

Rosa spent time in the Los Angeles Angels organization and was acquired for future considerations. In his career, Rosa has appeared in 519 games and has posted a .644 OPS to go along with a .243 batting average. With Kansas City, Rosa hit .229 with two homers and 13 RBI.

To make room for Deshazier, C Derek Shomon was granted his unconditional release, while Angelo Gumbs has been placed on the inactive list.

Cleburne returns home July 13th to open a series with the Chicago Dogs. Good seats are still available and all promotional info can be found at www.railroaderbaseball.com or by calling (817) 945-8705.
