
RailCats and Boomers to Hold Tryout at Cumberland in Tennessee

GARY, Ind. - The Gary SouthShore RailCats and manager Greg Tagert are returning to Tennessee for their early spring tryout camp on Saturday, March 16 and Sunday, March 17 at the home of two-time NAIA National Champions, Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tenn. The RailCats will again be joined at Cumberland by the Schaumburg Boomers and manager Jamie Bennett, as both clubs will be searching for talent.
This will be an open tryout and any player age 18 and up who is not under contract or currently playing collegiately is welcome to attend. Players should wear proper baseball attire and will need to provide their own equipment, including wood bats and catchers gear.
Position players will report at 9:30 a.m. Pitchers will report at 12:30 p.m. Five players appeared on the roster for the RailCats and Boomers last season.
Lebanon is located 30 miles south of Nashville. Registration will take place on the day of the tryout. The cost of the tryout is $50. Players with additional questions may contact either Greg Tagert at [email protected] or Jamie Bennett at [email protected].
The RailCats will open the 2013 season at home on Thursday, May 16 at 7:10 p.m. against the Lincoln Saltdogs at U.S. Steel Yard.
