Raging Tide Sign Meka Hyde of Bates College

Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide News Release


OLD ORCHARD BEACH, ME- The Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide has announced the signing of Bates College Catcher Meka Hyde.

The signing of Hyde marks the first Bates College player signing for the Raging Tide. Hyde comes to the Tide as a native of Lewiston, Maine where he attended Lewiston High School. During Hyde's career at Lewiston High School, he received numerous baseball accolades including: First-Team All-Conference (sophomore, junior, and senior years), Regional Player of the Year, and KVAC Player of the Year.

During Hyde's first year at Bates College, he ranked third on the team in batting average with a .319 posting over 116 at-bats. He started 31 games behind the plate, recording 37 hits, 9 of which were extra-base hits.

Hyde also scored 23 runs, added 14 RBIs, 9 walks, with a .380 on base percentage and totaled 9 stolen bases on the year.

Opening Night for the Raging Tide begins at 7:00pm on Thursday, June 6th at The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach against the Seacoast Mavericks.
