Raging Tide Sign Gelinas, Bussey and Doran of Maine

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, ME- The Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide has announced the signing of the University of Maine players Jeff Gelinas, Shane Bussey and Brian Doran.

The signing marks the second year in a row the Raging Tide has signed multiple players from the University of Maine. "We really admire and respect the job coach Trimper has done at Maine and we are very pleased with the performance we receive each year from players out of the program," said General Manager Taylor McCarthy.

Jeff Gelinas comes to the Raging Tide as a pitcher from Saco, Maine, and a senior at Thornton Academy. The 6-foot-3 RHP has been a three-year starting pitcher for Thornton Academy and played a key role for the Fayette-Staples American Legion baseball team based in Saco. Last spring, Gelinas led Thornton Academy to a berth in the Western Maine Class A quarterfinals with a record of 2-2 (W-L) and a 1.46 earned run average on the season. He also batted .356 with a homerun and 13 RBIs for the Golden Trojans.

Infielder Shane Bussey is a freshman at Maine and a native of Boynton Beach, Florida. Bussey attended Park Vista High School where he had a .458 batting average to go along with a 1.70 earned run average as a Pitcher. Bussey also finished with a .593 slugging percentage and a .529 on-base percentage. Shane was named a Palm Beach Post Top Performer and All-Area selection, along with the honors of a Sun Sentinel Top Performer and All-Area selection. Bussey is a very gifted two way athlete who originally considered playing both Football and Baseball before focusing on Baseball at Maine.

Brian Doran is currently in his sophomore season with the Black Bears after playing in thirty games as a freshman and starting in twenty-two as an Outfielder. Doran originates from Ayr, Ontario and attended Southwood Secondary School where he was named captain his senior season. Doran also played for the Canadian Junior National Team in 2010 and was a member of the Provincial Team in 2010.
