Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide News Release
OLD ORCHARD BEACH, ME - The Raging Tide have announced the signing of four more players. Old Orchard Beach has signed two pitchers from the University of Bridgeport in addition to two top high school prospects that will be playing for the University of Oklahoma starting in the fall.
The Bridgeport Purple Knights will be sending pitchers, Brian O'Keefe and Ray Kreiger, to the Raging Tide for the summer. Although the team hasn't had the best of luck this season, both pitchers have worked to be a steadying force in the rotation and out of the bullpen. O'Keefe is a junior out of Milford, CT who attended Foran High. The lefty starter has been dominant in eight starts. He has thrown three complete games, amassed 61 strikeouts and has a dazzling 1.78 ERA. Ray Kreiger is a freshman out of Derby, CT. He has made three starts and had six appearances out of the bullpen and has struck out 17 hitters over 20.2 innings pitched.
Joining the Bridgeport pitching duo is a pair of soon to be Oklahoma Sooners. The first is Kyle Mendenhall, a slick hitting shortstop out of Carlsbad, CA. Mendenhall is finishing out his senior season at Carlsbad High School where he is currently hitting .403 in the team's first 18 games. Also out of California, from Temecula, is catcher Chandler Wagoner. He plays for Great Oak, which is the #6 ranked high school team in the nation, as well as the #1 ranked team in all of California. Wagoner has been the anchor behind the plate for Great Oak, helping lead them to a 14-5 record, currently, while also batting .268 with a .373 on-base percentage.
The Raging Tide's home opener is on June 4th at 7pm at The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach against the Nashua Silver Knights.
