Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide News Release
OLD ORCHARD BEACH, ME- The Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide (11-13) were shutout by the Nashua Silver Knights (16-6), 4-0 on Monday night at The Ballpark. The Tide left a combined 10 runners on base in the losing effort.
Nashua struck for their first run of the game in the top of the third when John Adams (Walpole, MA/Boston College) singled in Dan Cellucci (Sudbury, MA/Bryant).
The Raging Tide had their strongest opportunity of the night in the bottom of the fourth, as the bases were loaded when Mekae Hyde (Lewiston, ME/Bates) was stuck in a runner interference that caused the scoring run to have to be brought back to third, then Shane Bussey (Boynton Beach, FL/Maine) grounded into a 6-4-3 double play to end the scoring threat.
The Silver Knights added to their lead in the top of the fifth on a double by Matt Sanchez (Sunrise, FL/UMASS Lowell), who later scored on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Sullivan (Hopkinton, MA/UConn). The eventual winning side added another run in the seventh to pull the game out of reach for the home team.
Joey Royer (Westbrook, ME/New Haven) suffered the loss, tossing 6.1 innings, giving up four earned runs and seven hits, while striking out two.
The Raging Tide will be back in action on Wednesday as they play host to the Seacoast Mavericks at 7pm for Lobster Night, first 200 fans will receive FREE lobster necklaces.
