OLD ORCHARD BEACH, ME- The Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League will begin play for the 2013 season Thursday, June 6th at 7:00pm at The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach. The Tide will be taking on the Seacoast Mavericks of Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

Before the game, the Tide will honor Lucien Huot, who was known by many as the "Voice of The Ballpark." Opening Night will also include a special post game Fireworks show presented by the Raging Tide and RS Fireworks.

The Raging Tide is entering their second season as a member of the FCBL which features premier college athletes from around New England and the rest of the country.

Following a competitive season which saw the Raging Tide finish with a record of 23-30, new faces will look to lead the organization to its first playoff appearance.

"We are excited with the talent that we were able to acquire this off season," said Raging Tide GM Taylor McCarthy. Among the new faces looking to lead the organization will be first year head coach Chris Torres of Vero Beach, Florida.

Torres was a former 32nd round draft pick of the Detroit Tigers and spent the last nine seasons playing Minor League Baseball.

Among the talent acquired by the Tide this off season, several top schools will make up the thirty man roster including Maine, Virginia Tech, Santa Clara, Miami, Marist, UMass and St. Joe's College of Maine.

Fans will also be able to see local standouts with several players coming from nearby towns such as Saco, Lewiston, and Yarmouth. Thornton Academy standout and Saco native Jeff Gelinas is one of several Raging Tide players making their debut this summer.

Fans can expect the same affordable, family friendly atmosphere at The Ballpark this summer with several on field promotions every inning and special themed nights for each of the 27 Home Games. Tickets for Adults are $5.00 and as low as $3.00 for kids and senior citizens. For more information regarding the upcoming season, visit www.oobragingtide.com.
