Rage's Scott Reid Gets a Shot at the AHL
September 26, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
Broomfield, Colo. - Rocky Mountain Rage goaltender Scott Reid has signed a Professional Tryout Agreement with the American Hockey League's Quad City Flames, the top player development affiliate of the NHL's Calgary Flames. Reid will be on the ice with Quad City when the club opens its training camp on Sept. 30 at the i wireless Center in Moline, Ill.
Reid is no stranger to the AHL. Named the CHL's Most Outstanding Goaltender in 2003-04, he received his first call-up to professional hockey's "triple A" ranks during the 2005-06 season and began the 2006-07 campaign playing for the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals. Throughout his seven full seasons as a pro, Reid is 6-8-1 with a 2.29 goals against average and .917 save percentage over four different stints at the next level.
"Scott certainly deserves this opportunity," said Rage Head Coach and General Manager Tracy Egeland. "It'll force me to scramble to find another goaltender, but it wouldn't shock me at all if he ends up opening the season in a Quad City Flames sweater."
Last season with the Rage, Reid compiled the third highest win total in the CHL with a record of 25-14-4, a goals against average of 3.23, and a save percentage of .900. He was a real workhorse for Rocky Mountain, appearing in 44 games on his way to logging more than 2,500 minutes between the pipes, also the league's third highest total.
By leading the league in victories at the All-Star Break last year, Reid garnered his fourth CHL All-Star nod and begins this coming season ranked in the top 10 in league history with 121 wins (7th) and 11 shutouts (6th).
Reid is still under contract to the Rage, and if he fails to land a roster spot with Quad City, he will return to Rocky Mountain for the team's third season in the CHL which is fast approaching. Operations crews began re-installing Broomfield Event Center's ice surface this week, and the team's first on-ice session of training camp arrives on Oct. 6. The Rage begin the regular season on the road on Oct. 17 against the Laredo Bucks before returning to the BEC for the home opener on Oct. 22 against the Colorado Eagles.
Season tickets and mini-plans for the 2008-09 campaign are on sale now with packages beginning as low as $17 per seat. For more information, visit www.rockymountainrage.com, or contact the Rage Ticket Sales Staff at (303) 439-RAGE or tickets@broomfieldsports.com.
