Rage win over the Cincinnati Marshals

July 15, 2006 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
RiverCity Rage News Release

With a 48-30 win over the Cincinnati Marshals, the Rage have earned a spot in the NIFL Atlantic Conference Final. Tonight's win was also the first playoff win in franchise history, as last season the Marshals defeated the Rage in the Quarter-Finals.

The Rage came into the game without power back Sha- Ron Edwards and would have to find someone else to pickup the offensive power, and they found it in the man who replaced Edwards for the night, Mike Lawrence, who finished the game with 15 carries for 65 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also had one receiving touchdown.

1st QUARTER: The Marshals came out fast putting up two touchdowns on the board by passes from George Murray to Arnold Tyus. Mike Lawrence got into the endzone for the RAGE after a one yard run.

2nd QUARTER: Moses Regular took a 16 yard pass into the endzone from Anthony Fisher, while Mike Lawrence added his second and third touchdowns and Anthony Fisher also ran one into the endzone. Dan Breech kicked a 26 yard field goal for the Marshals.

3rd QUARTER: Mike Lawrence caught a seven yard pass from Clay Groefsema, who made his return to the field for the Rage after a long layoff due to injury. Groefsema also connected with Moses Regular. Cincinnati scored on a 15 yard pass from George Murray to John Cain.

4th QUARTER: With the score 23-48 Rage going into the fourth quarter, there wasn't a lot the Marshals could do, but they did get points on the board after Michael Larkin caught a very long 39 yard pass inside the endzone.

FINAL SCORE: MARSHALS 30 , RAGE 48
