RiverCity Rage News Release

St. Charles, MO - The RiverCity Rage Professional Indoor Football Team lost a tough game to their rival Bloomington Extreme, 41-38, Saturday night in front of 4,469 boisterous fans at the Family Arena. The attendance mark is a team-high since joining the UIF last season. The Rage trailed 34-20 at the half but locked up the Extreme offense in the second half. Unfortunately, the RiverCity comeback came up short.

"We lost a tough one tonight," said Rage Head Coach Ken Stills. "We need to play all three aspects of the game to win in this league. When we start doing that we are going to be tough to beat."

The Rage (3-2) were facing the league's second ranked offense in the Extreme (3-3). Bloomington came out firing in the game's first half as they scored touchdowns on five of their six possessions. However, the Rage defense made the adjustments needed at the half and held the explosive Extreme offense to just seven second half points.

The Rage scored the game's only third quarter points on a Garrett Morgan field goal, a safety by linebacker Joe Bevis and an eight yard touchdown run by Rage newcomer, Tim Blackwell. The 12 RiverCity points closed the gap to 34-32 leading into the final quarter. Bloomington, however, scored a touchdown on a scramble by quarterback Fredie Ray, extending the lead to 41-32. RiverCity answered with another Blackwell TD with 4:31 left, to draw within three points. Unfortunately, that would be the last time the Rage would get their hands on the ball.

Blackwell was a definite bright spot for RiverCity. The Southern Mississippi alum accounted for 186 all-purpose yards in the game. Blackwell totaled 103 yards in kickoff returns, rushed for a team-high 58 yards with a touchdown and added 25 yards on five receptions, including another score.

"Blackwell being named Player of the Game is a high point for us," added Stills. "He really stood out in his first game. We are expecting very big things from him the rest of the season."

The Rage remain at home for their next two games as well. The Wichita Wild come to town on Saturday, April 19th and the Sioux Falls Storm come to the Family Arena on Saturday, April 26th. Great seats remain for both games with prices starting at just $5. To order your tickets call the Rage ticket office at (636) 896.4285 today.
