St. Charles, MO - The RiverCity Rage Professional Indoor Football Team has announced that Zac Atterberry, an intern with their football operations department, has signed a free-agent contract with the Chicago Bears as a punter. The Lindenwood University alum was in his first year working with the Rage.

"We wanted to use him as a kicker," said Rage Head Coach Ken Stills. "We obviously don't punt in this game so we were watching him kick field goals in practice. He told us he was going to go to Chicago's mini camp and he must have had a great showing. This is everyone's goal on this team - to make it to the NFL. It's just not everyday that it is one of the behind the scenes guys that goes. We wish him nothing but the best of luck in his career."

The Lewisville, TX native led the Heart of America Athletic Conference and ranked sixth in the nation in 2007 with 41.6 yards per punt while leading Lindenwood University to a 10-2 record last fall. Atterberry was at the Bears mini camp with three other punters. He was signed over the players from Notre Dame, USC, and Kansas State.

"I am thrilled to have this opportunity with such an outstanding organization," said Atterberry. "I've got my foot in the door now. It's up to me to follow through on my abilities. I am honored to even be considered."

The Rage head to Sioux Falls, SD to take on the Storm this Saturday as they try to end their five-game losing skid. The next home game for the Rage is Saturday, May 31st as they host the Bloomington Extreme. The Rage have put together a new ticket campaign for underprivileged children in the area and are asking their corporate partners or individuals to purchase tickets that will in turn be donated to the Rage Children's Charities for that game.

The charities include The Ronald McDonald House, Camp Sunrise via The TL Jones Foundation, the Boys and Girls Club and YMCA. The Rage will match any donation made by their partners in an effort to reach as many children as possible. Each company or individual also has the option of donating the tickets to a charity of their own choosing as well. For more information on this exciting campaign call (636) 946.7243 or visit ragefootball.com. Together we can bring a smile to our area youth in need.
