St. Charles, MO - When RiverCity Rage General Manager, Matt Jones, was deciding which organization to donate the money his T.L. Jones Foundation raised, he found there were many deserving options. So he thought about his father, Tom, the namesake of the foundation, who he lost to cancer in June of 2002.

"The American Cancer Society gave us all of these great choices," said Jones. "But I thought that my dad would want the money raised to go to help kids who were dealing with this terrible disease. Camp Sunrise was a perfect fit."

The American Cancer Society's Camp Sunrise mission is to provide a normal, active, and safe camp experience where children can celebrate life while living with, through, and beyond the diagnosis of cancer.

The T.L. Jones Foundation raised $20,000 this year at its annual golf tournament at Old Hickory Golf Club in St. Peters on June 29th. The amount funded opportunities for 16 families to attend Camp Sunrise over the Labor Day weekend. Jones was on hand at Trout Lodge in Potosi, MO to see his donation at work.

"It was an extremely emotional experience for my whole family this weekend," Jones said. "I remembered my dad's year and a half battle with cancer and realized that these kids were going through the same thing. I couldn't believe how resilient they were. The whole weekend was filled with activities that served as a break from the reality of life for not only the kids but also their families."

The experience made Jones realize that there was still more that he could do for Camp Sunrise with help from all of the people that support the T.L. Jones Foundation.

"Our goal for next year is to be the major underwriter for Camp Sunrise," Jones said. "This is exactly what we had envisioned for the T.L. Jones Foundation when we started. To be able to make a difference in these families' lives, even for just a weekend, was an awesome feeling. We can only hope to make even better next year."
