
Rage close out season with playoff loss

BLOOMINGTON, ILLINOIS- The RiverCity Rage Professional Indoor Football Team's season came to a conclusion with a 33-7 loss in the Eastern Conference Championship game against the Bloomington Extreme. RiverCity closed out the year with a 7-9 record while Bloomington improved to 8-7 on the year and advanced to the United Indoor Football League Championship game on July 12 against the three-time league champion Sioux Falls Storm.
The Extreme defense did a wonderful job against the RiverCity offense, holding them to 137 total yards of offense and just seven points. RiverCity was being shut out in the game until 1:21 left in regulation when Sterling Finney hit Virgil Union on a 30-yard touchdown strike. Rage quarterbacks were 11 of 28 passing for 115 yards and four interceptions in the game.
The Rage defense was pressed in the football game by the combination of quarterback Dusty Burk and wide receiver James Walton. Burk was 23 of 37 for 232 yards and two touchdowns while Walton, a two-time all-star, led all receivers with 92 yards and a touchdown. The Extreme did not turn the football over the entire game and tacked on four field goals in the game to advance to their first championship game in franchise history.
As a team, the season comes to a conclusion for the RiverCity Rage, however four Rage players will be playing in the UIF all-star game on July 19. Hurtis Chinn, Milton Proctor, Joe Bevis and Barry Brueggeman will represent the Rage at Sioux City
