Rockford Thunder News Release

The Racers (2-1) scored the only runs they would need in the game in the top of the fourth inning when they plated three runs. Five singles would produce all of the runs in the inning for Akron.

Akron would add a single run in the fifth inning and five more in the top half of the seventh to close out their scoring. The hitter of the game for Akron was veteran Jackie Pasquerella. Pasquerella went 3-for-4 in the game with two runs scored and two runs batted in. Six other Racers collected a hit a piece in the game.

Brittany Weil (1-0) picked up the win for the Racers in her professional debut. She went 4.1 innings of shutout ball before giving way to Kasey Weis who closed out the game for Akron.

For the Thunder (1-2) the struggles continued at the plate as they left another seven runners on base running the season total to 21 in the three games. Five of the seven runners left on base by Rockford were stranded in scoring position.

Rockford plated its only two runs of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning. Shanel Scott scored on a Chelsea Spencer sacrifice fly and Jenna Rhodes on a wild pitch.

Offensively, Jenna Rhodes continued to impress the Thunder fans. She went 3-for-4 in the game and added another stolen base to her total giving her five on the season. Ashley Holcombe picked up her first professional hit in the game finished 1-for-1 with two walks.
