Akron Racers News Release
TUSCALOOSA, AL - After persistent rain took its toll on Day 2 of the NPF Championship Series at Rhoads Stadium on the campus of the University of Alabama, the Akron Racers and USSSA Pride will finish their semifinal series on Sunday, August 20.
After the Pride took a lead in the series with a 3-0 win in Game 1 on Friday night, the two teams were scheduled to finish the series Saturday with a potential double header. However, after rain fell in the area for most of the afternoon and evening the field was deemed unplayable.
The Racers will now take on the Pride at 12:00 p.m. ET Sunday, August 21, when they will try to keep their season alive. With a win in the first game, Akron would force a decisive third game of the series at 8:00 p.m. ET Sunday, August 21.
Following the noon game between the Racers and Pride, the Chicago Bandits and Scrap Yard Dawgs will meet in the third game of the series between those two teams.
All of the semifinal games will be available online on NPF TV.
If Akron forces a third game in their semifinal series, the finals would begin with a double header on Monday, August 22. If the Pride wins the first game on Sunday, they will meet the Bandits or Dawgs in the first game of the finals Sunday night.
All of the games of the finals will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
