AKRON, OH - The Akron Racers have extended the contract of Cassie Tysarczyk for the 2016 season, the team announced today.

"Every team needs a player who will flat-out do whatever needs to get done and Cassie that kind of athlete," remarked GM, Joey Arrietta. "Her exceptional work ethic and commitment is unquestionable."

Tysarczyk joined the Racers last season after playing her rookie season with the USSSA Pride. Tysarczyk scored six runs in 11 games in 2015. Tysarczyk drew four walks in 18 plate appearances to boost her on base percentage to .333, ranking her sixth best for Akron.

With the Pride as a rookie, Tysarczyk played 16 games, scoring five runs and a .267 on base percentage.

Defensively, Tysarczyk has committed only one error in two seasons in the NPF, building off a collegiate resume that saw her named to the SEC All-Defensive team as a senior in 2014. As a senior at Texas A&M, Tysarczyk was named to the All-SEC 2nd Team and was named First-Team All-Defense for the conference. In her senior season, Tysarczyk batted .366, starting all 59 games and driving in 38 RBI, including 12 home runs. Tysarczyk also stole 10 bases and had a .400 on-base percentage.

Tysarczyk was also named First-Team All-Big 12 as a sophomore. For her career, Tysarczyk batted .301, scoring 161 runs, driving in 145 RBI and hitting 40 home runs. Tysarczyk also drew 98 walks, stole 28 bases and accumulated a .980 fielding percentage in the outfield.
