Racers Earn the Series Sweep Over the Diamonds

Kissimmee, FL - The Diamonds and Racers faced off for games three and four of Series. In the first game of the evening, the game turned into being a pitchers duel with Lisa Norris of the Akron Racers and Kelsi Dunne of the NPF Diamonds.
Dunne trying to get her first win as a Rookie was unable to do so as former Alabama teammate, Kelley Montalvo, scored the games only run in the fifth inning. Montalvo led the inning off by hitting a double on a 1-2 pitch. Roya St. Clair sacrifices Montalvo over to third making the first out of the inning. Courtney Bures then advances to first on an error by Rookie first basemen GiOnna DiSalvatore which would score the games only run.
Norris got her League leading third win of the season after facing 30 batters in the seven inning ball game. She silenced the Diamonds bats to only three hits for the evening.
In game two the evening, Akron's Morgan Childers would battle Morgan Melloh of the Diamonds.
The Akron Racers, the eventual winner, would score first in the top of the fourth. Montalvo again would score the games first run. She began the inning by walking with Taylor Schlopy coming up with a no out single to put runners on the corners. With Micaela Minner up to bat, Montalvo scores on a wild pitch. The Diamonds then settled down and got three straight outs to end the half inning.
Hoku Nohara led off the top of the fifth inning with a walk. Robin Tutt comes into the game to pinch run for Nohara. Tutt advance to second on a passed ball putting her into scoring position. Sam Marder places a sac bunt down to advance Tutt to third with one out. Sharonda McDonald then hit a sac fly to score Tutt giving the Racers a 2-0 lead.
The Diamonds would not go down without a fight. In the bottom of the fifth the Diamonds scored one with Loryn Johnson scoring on a Nicole Pauly error making the game 2-1. Childers would then be replaced by Kristina Thorson to finish the game.
Kelsi Dunne came into replace Morgan Melloh for the sixth and seventh inning of the game for the Diamonds. The Racers would score another run in the top of the seventh. Jessica Williams led off the winning with a double and later advancing to third on a wild pitch. Hoku Nohara would then get a no out walk putting runners at first and third. Williams will then score on a wild pitch and advancing Nohara to second. However, the Diamonds would then get three consecutive outs to end the Racers threat of scoring.
With the game on the line and down by two runs the Diamonds would do everything they could in the 7th to not allow the Racers sweep the Series. However, they would come up short with only scoring one in the bottom of the seventh. The Racers swept the Diamonds by winning the fourth game of the Series with a 3-2 win.
