NPF Diamonds News Release

Orlando, Fla. -- With an injury riddled pitching staff, the NPF Diamonds have landed some support, getting rookie pitcher Danielle Spaulding from the USSSA Florida Pride in exchange for a 2012 draft pick.

The Diamonds (4-18) have relied mostly on rookie Morgan Melloh for pitching duties this season, as she's turned in 78 innings of work so far -- a full 46.8 innings more than any other Diamonds pitcher (Gibson has 31.2).

Spaulding was drafted by the USSSA Florida Pride from the University of North Carolina. While with the Pride she pitched 18 innings in four games, earning a 1-1 record with 12 strikeouts and a 4.67 ERA.

In her first start with the Diamonds, Spaulding went four innings against the Pride, giving up nine hits and seven runs to earn her second loss on the season.
