When the National Lacrosse League season comes to an end, the team's mascot, R. Thunder, does not fly somewhere tropical to rest his wings. Quite the contrary, he ramps up his appearance schedule to visit all of his fans during the offseason.

R. Thunder will kick off his community calendar on Friday, May 29th, at Neil Armstrong Elementary School in Gates. The Armstrong Family Picnic, which runs from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., will include local mascots, games and prizes.

On Saturday, May 30th, the mascot will give high-fives and hugs at the Annual Stroll for Strong at Genesee Valley Park. Kids and their parents can meet the Knighthawks mascot from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m.

On Sunday, he will attend one of his favorite events of the spring. R. Thunder will fly out to the Muddy's Buddies Lacrosse Tournament at 3:00 p.m. The sixth annual charity youth lacrosse tournament features girl's teams in three age groups. The event will be held at Brighton High School at 1150 Winton Road.

Following his busy weekend, R. Thunder will make dozens of appearances throughout the spring and summer. His schedule already includes stops at Cutting 4 A CURE, Alex's Lemonade Stand "Block Party" and Summer Bash at Sky Zone Rochester. Stay tuned for times and locations of R. Thunder's events.
