Quick Start Can't Stop Mavs, Bees Fall 5-1

Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release


HIDALGO, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (0-2-0) fell to the Missouri Mavericks (2-0-0) by a 2-1 score on Saturday night. Aaron Lee got the lone Killer Bees goal only 16 seconds into the game. Missouri scored four unanswered to end the game.

The Bees started the game with a quick goal only 16 seconds into the hockey game as Aaron Lee took a pass and deked past Mavericks netminder Charlie Effinger. It was Lee's first goal of the season with Brandon Campos and Zac Pearson earning the assists.

The Mavericks would take the lead in the first period however as Brandon Coccimiglio would strike on the power-play and Ed McGrane would score with less than two minutes left in the first period taking the Mavs a 2-1 lead into the locker room.

The Mavericks would add a third goal to their total in the second period as Dale Mahovsky best B.J. O'Brien with wrist shot that handcuffed the Bees netminder.

In the third period Ed McGrane came in on a two-on-none and scored five-hole giving the Mavericks a 4-1 lead. The Mavs would also add an additional late goal making the final score 5-1.

The Killer Bees take to the road this coming weekend playing a pair of games in Laredo against the Bucks. Fans can follow the game on 956sports.com and CHL-TV. The Killer Bees return to the State Farm Arena November 4th hosting the Texas Brahmas.
