(Rochester, NY)... Major League Lacrosse, the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced Monday its weekly award winners for the week ending July 27th according to MLL Commissioner David Gross.

Rochester Rattlers rookie goalkeeper Brett Queener was named the Cascade Rookie of the Week while Los Angeles Riptide rookie attackman Kevin Huntley was named as the League's Offensive Player of the Week.

Meanwhile, New Jersey Pride defenseman Ryan McClay earned the Defensive Player of the Week honor and Kevin Keenan of the Philadelphia Barrage was selected as the Goalkeeper of the Week.

Queener made 13 saves and allowed just four goals in the second half to lead the Rochester Rattlers to a 17-13 victory over the Long Island Lizards on Friday night, clinching the Rattlers' second division title in their eight-year history. Queener replaced starter Mike Levin at halftime and made nine saves in the third quarter as the Rattlers outscored Long Island by 7-2 in the period.

Queener, who was picked by the Rattlers in the fifth round of the Collegiate Draft, has played in five games this season and has a .731 save percentage while allowing 9.61 goals per game.

Huntley led the Riptide to a 15-9 victory over the San Francisco Dragons on Saturday night, which secured Los Angeles' second straight postseason berth. He scored a season-high seven goals in the victory, tying the team record set by Terry Riordan against San Francisco on June 30, 2007.

Huntley, who was acquired from the Dragons after being selected with the 18th overall pick in the Collegiate Draft, has scored 28 goals this season in eight games, which has broken the MLL record for goals by a rookie. The previous record was 26 goals by Adam Doneger in 2003 when he was with the Rochester Rattlers.

McClay helped the New Jersey Pride earn their second straight victory with a 16-8 win over the Washington Bayhawks on Thursday night. He recorded a season-high 13 ground balls in the victory as the Pride beat the Bayhawks for the second time in less than a week. With 65 ground balls in 11 games, he leads the Pride and ranks sixth in the MLL.

Playing in place of Brian Dougherty, Keenan made a career-high 27 saves to lead the Philadelphia Barrage to a 16-11 victory over the Boston Cannons on Saturday night, marking the Barrage's fourth win in the last five games. The win also allowed the Barrage to secure their third consecutive playoff berth.

Keenan, who made the first start of his three-year MLL career on Saturday, has stopped 61.4 percent of the shots he has faced in nearly 90 minutes this season, which is a career high.

The Rochester Rattlers (8-3) complete their regular-season schedule this weekend, as they travel to play the Chicago Machine on Sunday, August 10th at 4:30 p.m. EST at Toyota Park. The game will be broadcast live on WYSL 1040-AM and wysl1040.com.

The Rattlers will play in the 2008 NB ZIP™ MLL Championship Weekend at Harvard Stadium in Boston on Saturday, August 23rd and Sunday, August 24th. The semifinal games will be held at noon and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 23rd. The two semifinal winners will advance to the NB ZIP MLL Championship Game on Sunday, August 24th. The Championship Game will once again air live on ESPN2 at 1:00 p.m. ESPN2 is also planning on airing one of the semifinal games as well.
