
Quakes Enter All-Star Break on Fire

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - After dropping five of six at Fresno in mid-May, the Quakes returned the favor on Sunday, winning for the fifth time in the six-game set at LoanMart Field, defeating the Grizzlies in convincing fashion, 12-3.
The win gives Rancho four straight and six of their last seven entering the four-day All-Star Break.
Marco Hernandez had three hits, including a home run, finishing with a career-high four RBIs, while Adolfo Ramirez fired four innings of scoreless relief to earn his fifth win of the year.
Maddux Bruns got the start and set the tone with two innings of scoreless baseball, before turning it over to Ramirez (5-0) in the third.
In the bottom of the third, the Quakes snapped a scoreless tie, as Jake Vogel's RBI double plated Austin Gauthier for a 1-0 lead. Damon Keith followed with an infield single, scoring Vogel for a 2-0 advantage.
Gauthier drove home a run in the fourth, as his double scored Kenneth Betancourt, giving the Quakes a 3-0 lead.
Yunior Garcia's two-run homer opened things up in the fifth, as his eighth blast of the year made it 5-0 and chased Fresno starter Cullen Kafka (3-2).
The Grizzlies finally got on the board in the seventh, but Rancho blew it wide-open in the bottom of the inning, scoring five to take a commanding 10-1 lead. Both Hernandez and Luis Rodriguez highlighted the inning, each with a two-run single.
Hernandez capped the scoring with his second homer of the year, a two-run shot in the eighth, rounding out the score at 12-3.
Rancho (11-10, 47-40) will take four days off, then return to action in Visalia on Friday, July 22 at 6:30pm. The Quakes will eventually return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, August 2, as they host the Inland Empire 66ers in a six-game set. Tuesday, August 2 will be a Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday.
