Q&A with New Orleans VooDoo QB Brian Zbydniewski

NEW ORLEANS (June 18, 2012) - Late last week, intern Katelyn Fitzpatrick sat down with New Orleans VooDoo quarterback Brian Zbydniewski for this week's VooDoo Question and Answer. Zbydniewski is in his third season in the AFL and his first with the VooDoo.

KATELYN FITZPATRICK: What got you started playing football?

BRIAN ZBYDNIEWSKI: My dad got me started. I played every sport growing up and even when I didn't want to go, my dad dragged me.

KF: Did you have a favorite sporting team growing up and why was that your favorite team?

BZ: My favorite team was the Cleveland Browns because my parents are from there.

KF: What one player would you most like to play against?

BZ: I would like to play against Tom Brady. It would be my team against his.

KF: What was your most embarrassing moment on the football field?

BZ: My most embarrassing moment was when a lineman stepped on my toes and I fell. I was like a sitting duck.

KF: What is your earliest sports memory?

BZ: I was playing little league football and you had to weigh a certain weight in order to play and I didn't meet the requirement. My dad was the coach so he just put fishing weights in my socks and underwear and I got to play.

KF: What was your greatest sports moment?

BZ: In 2010, I played with the Spokane Shock, and we won the ArenaBowl.

KF: Who was your favorite athlete growing up?

BZ: My favorite athlete growing up was Joe Montana. He was a quarterback like me and I enjoyed watching him. He was very successful and a legend.

KF: What do you feel are 3 characteristics a good teammate should have?

BZ: I think a teammate needs to be passionate, trustworthy and a hard worker.

KF: What is the funniest thing that ever happened during a game?

BZ: One time, I broke my nose and I had to stuff cotton up it. I couldn't talk clear and the guys had problems hearing me.

KF: What is your personal touchdown celebration?

BZ: I have all kind of moves! But, I like the worm.

KF: What was your reaction when you found out you were joining the VooDoo?

BZ: I was really excited when I found out. I talked to Coach PO and I knew he was an ex- quarterback and was very successful.

KF: What is your favorite style of music?

BZ: Country. I love me some country!

KF: What is your favorite song of all-time?

BZ: My favorite song is "Sitting On the Dock of the Bay."

KF: Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera and why?

BZ: Britney Spears. I remembered when she first came out on MTV. My friends and I would stop whatever we were doing when we heard her and salute because she was so hot.

KF: Do you have a favorite TV show and why do you like that show?

BZ: I like the bachelor and bachelorette. I don't know why, I just do!

KF: What is your favorite food and why do you like that food?

BZ: I love steak. You can't go wrong with a juicy steak bleeding on the plate.

KF: Nobody knows how much you like to.?

BZ: Sing in the shower.

KF: What is the most interesting thing about you?

BZ: I'm a unique character. It takes a lot to get to know me.

KF: What is your advice to kids?

BZ: Listen to your parents. They're probably right.

KF: What is the one thing you'd most like to change about the world?

BZ: I would change people's attitudes and make them friendlier. There needs to be more good things going.

KF: What is your favorite snack food and why?

BZ: I love Scooby snacks because they're excellent. They're like gummy bears!

KF: What is your favorite non-athletic activity and why?

BZ: I love being around my family. It makes me happy.

KF: Do you have a favorite quote or saying?

BZ: "Everyone has the will to win if those with the will to prepare do win."

KF: Top-five on your bucket list?

BZ: Hawaii; take a cruise to Alaska; tour Europe; climb Mount Everest and go on an African safari.

KF: Where do you see yourself in 20 years?

BZ: I see myself retired and living in Colorado in a log cabin on a mountain.
