FLYERS SCHEDULE OPEN TRY-OUT After finishing the 2008 season with a 30-66 record (32 games out of first place), the Schaumburg Flyers improved to 43-53 last season, the largest win increase in team history, and largest win increase in the Northern League in 2009.
As second year manager Mike Busch starts to put his 2010 roster together, he's looking for that local diamond in the rough. The Flyers 2010 Championship run begins with an open tryout on Sunday, May 2, 2009 at 10:00 am at Alexian Field in Schaumburg. Players can sign up in advance to guarantee their spot at the tryout. The cost to participate is $40.00. The fee will be waived for anyone with Double-A experience or higher. Players who impress the Flyers coaching staff will be asked back for a private workout on Monday May 3, 2009. "Chicago is a strong baseball city, and I'm sure that there are players out there that the big league scouts have missed out on," said Flyers manager Mike Busch. "Hopefully we can spot one of those guys at this May tryout."
In a 1999 open tryout, Jim Rushford impressed then manager Ron Kittle, and. just two years later was named the Milwaukee Brewers' Minor League Player of the Year. Rushford made his major league debut in the summer of 2002.

Bearon's 2010 Reading Adventure
Bearon and the Flyers are excited about the great start to the 2010 Bearon's Reading Adventure. In hopes that 2010 is the best year yet, Bearon wants all families to know that the Flyers are still welcoming all students to participate in his Reading Adventure.

Flag Ceremony The Schaumburg Flyers invite scout and service groups to present the colors prior to any of the 50 home games during the 2010 season. The organizations will be invited onto the field prior to every home game to stand in the outfield to present the colors during the national anthem.
Picnic Packages are now available and group rates start at: $8.50 for groups of 25-99 people. $8.00 for 100-499 $7.50 for 500-999 $5.50 for 1000+

2010 HOST FAMILIES We are in need of generous families willing to open their homes to the Flyers players for the 2010 season. Each year, Host Families welcome our ball players into their homes for about 4 months, from spring training through the playoffs (May-mid-September).
We do not require families to provide transportation for their player; so families living close to Alexian Field are ideal. Some family information will be requested to ensure a compatible match exists between player and family.
In exchange for your generosity, each Host Family will receive four (4) season tickets to the Flyers' 2010 season. You also receive the rare opportunity to see first-hand the rewards of being a professional baseball player.
