East Texas PumpJacks News Release

Every time the Pump Jacks scored Tuesday night the Coppell Copperheads would strike right back with runs of their own.

The Jacks trailed 5-1 after four innings, added another run in the sixth but the Copperheads responded with two of their own, putting the contest at 7-2. East Texas added a run in the seventh, two in the eighth and another in the ninth to come up just short, 7-6, one night after topping Coppell 9-6.

Tyler Girouard had an RBI single to extend his hit streak to a team-high 15 games. The University of Louisiana-Lafayette has raised his batting average to .292 during the streak.

Corey Falvey came into the came hitless in a Pump Jacks uniform since joining East Texas a week ago and left with two hits. He also reached on a close-call error on a blooper to right field. Seth Granger also posted a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 with a walk. Ty Marlow doubled and Ryan Moore scored two with a single and a pair of walks to round out the Jacks comeback attempt.

Brad Fisher took his second loss of the season in his seventh start. The Oral Roberts freshman allowed two runs, only one earned, and struck out two. He only allowed two hits but gave up four walks before leaving after the second inning. Jordan Hershiser took over for an inning before giving way to James Hudelson who tossed five strong innings to close out the game. Hudelson struck out a season-high six and gave up two runs on only three hits.

The Copperheads struck first with runs in the second and third before the Jacks responded with a run in the fourth with Scott Kalush drawing a walk with the bases loaded to score Hunter Dozier, who reached on a walk himself.

Coppell added three more runs in the home frame of the inning on costly errors from the Pump Jacks defense.

Zach Benson scored on a single from Ryan Moore in the sixth but the Copperheads responded yet again with back-to-back RBI hits from Nick Smelser and Bo Altobelli in the bottom of the sixth.

Granger scored on a Marlow double in the seventh and Girouard plated the speedy Jace Statum and Moore on single in the eighth to pull the Jacks within two, 7-5.

Moore reached on a one out walk in the top of the ninth, Girouard reached on a walk with two outs before Jake Pinchback knocked in Moore on a bloop single with Girouard moving to third. Michael Sullivan was robbed of a potential game-tying hit up the middle by Coppell second baseman Cody Dyvig, who made a diving stop and got the force out of Pinchback at second to end the contest.

The Jacks kick off a four game homestand on Wednesday, welcoming the Brazos Valley Bombers back to historic Driller Park.

The Bombers return to town for Winning Inning Wednesday presented by Jack in the Box. If the Pump Jacks score three or more runs in any innings, every fan will go home with a coupon for a free item from Jack in the Box.

The two-game set will then wrap up with Thirsty Thursday. Fans can beat the East Texas heat with $1 draft beers, $3 frozen margaritas and 50-cent soft drinks all night long.
