Pump Jacks Camps Are Back and Better Than Ever
July 23, 2013 - Texas Collegiate League (TCL)
East Texas PumpJacks News Release
Campers will also meet Boomer and Derrick, the two lovable Pump Jacks mascots. Kids will be able to pose with the mascots and the TCL championship trophy for a special keepsake digital photo. On August 9, when the campers gather with their free tickets for the final Fireworks Friday of the 2013 season, they'll also enjoy an exclusive autograph session with Pump Jacks players. Each camper will receive a Jacks autograph card to collect signatures from all the players and coaches.
As another special benefit, campers will have the chance to win prizes just by attending this year's camp. Prizes include a team autographed official TCL baseball or a team signed game-used bat. Campers may also be selected for the camp all-stars Field of Dreams team, which will meet the team in the dugout on August 9 and take the field for pregame introductions. A lucky camper will even be chosen to be a Pump Jacks batboy for a game!
This is an all-skills camp, so campers will be able to improve all facets of their game. They'll get the chance to learn from coaches Nate Leaser, a member of baseball legend Tony Gwynn's staff at San Diego State, and Nic Mishler, who helped coach Grand Canyon University to the 2013 NCAA Div. II World Series. Pump Jacks players from top programs all over the country will also be on hand to offer the best in instruction.
Camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon both Friday and Saturday, and a meal will follow each session. The camp is open to campers from 5 to 18 years old, and the proper measures will be taken to make participants of all ages comfortable. All campers should bring their own necessary equipment, such as cleats, gloves, and bats.
The cost of the camp is just $50 per person, even with all the added benefits this season, thanks to support and sponsorship from The Haddock Foundation. Space is limited, however, so parents and campers are encouraged to act fast so they're not left out.
Parents can sign up their campers by visiting the Pump Jacks team store on their website here, or by visiting the Guest Service and Merchandise Booth during a Jacks home game. Parents may also drop by the Jacks' office in downtown Kilgore at 106 North Kilgore Street, #201, or call the office at (903) 218-GO ET.
The Pump Jacks return to action tonight to begin a two-game set with the Brazos Valley Bombers at historic Driller Park.
