Puerto Rico uses depth to defeat Stampede

The Puerto Rico Capitanes defeated the Buffalo Stampede by the score of 111-85 at the Koessler Center in Buffalo.

The new-look Stampede, with five players making their PBL debut for new coaches Romeo McKinney and Ray Hall, stayed with the Capitanes for the first half. The Puerto Rico teams' depth helped them pull away in the third quarter and won going away. The Puerto Rico bench outscored the Buffalo bench by 58-28. The Capitanes improve to 13-2, and the Stampede are now 3-11.

The Stampede were led by Corey Herring with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Frank Turner added 22 points in his Stampede debut. Other double figure scorers for the Stampede were Mark Price with 12 points and 6 assists, and Mike Norwood with 10 points.

Former NBA player Courtney Sims with 18 points and 19 rebounds led the Capitanes. Omar Alvarado added 15 points and Elias Ayuso added 14.

The next game for the Stampede is Saturday, March 13 against the Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry at the Koessler Center at 7:30 P.M. Tickets are available at the box office or by calling 603-9749.
