July 30, 2006- Miami, FL- Miami FC and the Puerto Rico Islanders met for the second time in three days. Having won on Friday night 3-2, Miami FC could not repeat such a feat and lost 1-0 this Sunday afternoon at Tropical Park.
At the end of the first half, Miami FC was down 1-0. The goal was scored at the 42nd minute by Alen Marcina, on an assist by Gustavo Barros-Schelotto. Even though the South Floridians kept trying to find their opponent's goal, the Puerto Rican defense would deny forwards Mario Rodriguez and Romario from scoring.
In the second half, the Puerto Rican team filled the midfield and dedicated the rest of the game to keeping possession and counterattacking. Goalkeeper Eric Kronberg had a couple of nice saves towards the end to deny the Islander's from any more goals. At the 90th minute, referee Ricardo Salazar, showed Zinho a red card due to "foul language."
This Wednesday, Miami FC will face Spanish side, Alaves, at 8:00 PM at Tropical Park Stadium. Next Sunday, the South Floridians resume their play-off hunt when they host the Vancouver Whitecaps at 4:00 PM at Tropical Park Stadium.
