Professional Arena Soccer League Update
December 17, 2013 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) News Release
Sockers Conceding Nothing in Pacific
12/17/13 - With two early home losses, the San Diego Sockers found themselves in unfamiliar territory. The Sockers had never lost at home during their first four seasons and at 0-2 they had a losing record for the first time ever in the PASL. Wins in Turlock and Sacramento got the Sockers back to .500 but there were lingering doubts whether the Sockers could still be the dominant team in the league.
San Diego had to travel to Ontario and Las Vegas to face the Fury, who were impressive in a season opening win over Dallas, and the undefeated Legends. San Diego won both games and neither one was as close as the final scores imply.
The Sockers held a 7-2 halftime lead over Ontario, before a fourth quarter Fury rally made the score a respectable 8-6. In Las Vegas, the Sockers held a 7-3 lead late in the fourth quarter and held on for a 7-5 win.
San Diego (4-2), now trails Las Vegas (6-1) by 1.5 games in the Pacific Division and have won 32 straight divisional games dating back to 2010.
Player of the Week
Kraig Chiles, San Diego Sockers
Three-time reigning PASL MVP Kraig Chiles came back with a vengeance after a slow start that saw him score only four points in his first three games. In his last three games he has 12 points including five goals and two assists in the weekend's two wins in Ontario and Las Vegas.

Bay Area Rollers
The Bay Area Rosal have snuck into third place in the Pacific Division after weekend victories over the Turlock Express and Mexico Toros. Veteran goalkeeper Dominik Jakubek is 3-0 since joining Rosal and Manolo Pina and 22-year old Emrah Klimenta are leading the offense. Klimenta had four goals this weekend including the overtime game winner against Mexico.
Flash Lose First Game
The Monterrey Flash took their 7-0 record to Hidalgo to face the team-formerly-known-as-Flash, La Fiera. Hidalgo won 5-4 in sudden death on a goal by Edgar Flores. The Flash (7-1) now hold a half game lead over La Fiera (6-1). Four of La Fiera's seven games have gone to overtime.
Mustangs Widen Eastern Lead
The Chicago Mustangs (7-0) are now the only undefeated team in the PASL after losses by Las Vegas and Monterrey last weekend. The Mustangs beat Cleveland 13-4 and Detroit 6-5 to open a three game lead in the division. Efrain "Wilo" Martinez scored six goals and now is tied for the PASL lead (with Cleveland's Allen Eller) with 18 goals.
