Bellingham Slam News Release

Indianapolis, IN - Joe Newman, ABA CEO, announced today that the team originally set to play in Everett, Washington will be moving all operations north to Bellingham. The team will continue to be headed by real estate investor John Dominguez, who lives in California but has ties to the Puget Sound area. Newman stated, "When Mr. Dominguez contacted me about becoming an ABA owner, we agreed that northwest Washington needed an ABA team - we just weren't quite sure where. We determined Everett would be an excellent location last summer, though now it has become clear that Bellingham will be the best fit for this team - and will work beautifully with the great Bellevue team."

The Bellingham group will waste no time in getting ready for the 2005-2006 season which begins in November. Dominguez and his staff have already come up with a team name and developed a logo. Stated Dominguez, "Our staff deliberated for weeks as to what the team name should be, until one of our staff members came up with what I think is the perfect name - the Bellingham Slam. The Slam's logo features the silhouette of a basketball player dunking the signature red, white and blue ABA ball."

Continued Dominguez, "We are already working hard to get Bellingham energized about their new professional team. The response we have gotten from the community before our official announcement has been extremely encouraging. We feel as though we can entice some of the elite players from Whatcom County and local universities to be a part of the Slam, along with other professional level athletes from around the country. We invite everyone to check our Web site frequently for updates at www.bellinghamslam.com. We will be announcing tryout camps and other community events for this spring and summer very soon."
