
Bellingham Slam name new head coach

Bellingham, WA. John Dominguez, Owner and General Manager of the Bellingham Slam ABA professional basketball team today announced that former Blaine High School coach Rob Ridnour has been named head coach of the team.
Ridnour, 51, brings years of coaching experience to the Slam for their inaugural season. Ridnour became known throughout Whatcom County as the coach of Blaine High School, where he led the Borderites to back-to-back 2A State Championships in 1999 and 2000. During his twelve year tenure at Blaine, Ridnour had the distinction of coaching his son Luke, one of only nine players in Washington State to ever be named to the McDonald's High School All-American Team, and who is now a starter for the Seattle Supersonics. Prior to coaching at Blaine, Ridnour was the head coach at Post Falls High School in Idaho and also assisted for two seasons at Spokane Community College. In his playing days, Ridnour was a standout guard for Shadle Park High School and later played foir Eastern Washington University.
Ridnour stated, "I am very excited to be a part of the Slam organization. The ABA is a very competitive league and we have a great challenge ahead of us. I am looking forward to the process of forming our roster this summer and I am already thinking about how to run our practices this fall. And I can't wait to tip-off the season in November."
Dominguez concluded, "One of our goals going into our first season was to establish a strong relationship with the community and the hiring of Mr. Ridnour accomplishes that. He is known throughout the area as a great coach and his results speak for themselves. I look forward to him leading our team on this court this fall."
