PrimeTime Players News Release
Fort Mill, SC: The PrimeTime Players continued their winning ways on Saturday, knocking off the Queen City Express 126-99 for their seventh straight victory.
After starting the game somewhat flat and allowing the Express to cut a near-twenty point lead down to just nine at halftime, PrimeTime put their foot on the gas and cruised to a 40-plus point lead before a flurry of late baskets by the visitors trimmed the final margin to just 27.
James Dillard was the leading scorer for PrimeTime, using a string of three straight baskets in the fourth quarter to stop the Express' last ditch effort at a comeback. He finished with 23 points and five rebounds on 8-of-12 shooting.
Another standout performance came from Malachai Jones who was forced into more minutes due to the absence of Thomas Pfaff and recorded his second straight double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds. C.J. Pigford also tallied another double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Three other PrimeTime Players scored in double digits including the league's leading scorer, Antonio Houston, who had 22, Brian Mobley who had 18, and Donald Rutherford who had 13. Vic Street served up 10 assists and boosted his average which is second in the league.
The Queen City Express was led by Mike Bland, who finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Ramar Cuthbertson had 17 points and Jerry Hollis, Marlon Graves, and Quinton Malloy finished with 13, 11, and 10 respectively.
The PrimeTime Players have the best record in the Tobacco Road Basketball League but sit second in the standings because of the weight of road victories in the point table. The top seed in the playoffs could well be decided in the PrimeTime Players' home finale on June 2nd when the first place Cary Invasion come to town. PrimeTime will be on the road next weekend as they head to Smithfield, NC to face the Carolina Gladiators.
