PrimeTime Players Freeze out Blizzard, Wilmington Sea Dawgs, 161-128

May 4, 2013 - Tobacco Road Basketball League (TRBL)
PrimeTime Players News Release

UNC-Wilmington legend Brett Blizzard made his home debut as a member of the Sea Dawgs, but his blistering outside shooting was not enough as the Dawgs fell to the TRBL defending champion PrimeTime Players by the score of 161-128 in Saturday night Tobacco Road Basketball League action.

In the first quarter, Blizzard drew the assignment of guarding PrimeTime's Terell Smith and it was an appropriate pairing, as the two lit it from outside up throughout the first quarter. Thanks to a nifty three pointer at the buzzer, Primetime led Wilmington after one 33-31.

The two continued their duel into the second quarter, as the Players and the Dawgs hustled up and down the court. David Pearman filled it up for Wilmington from beyond the arc, but points off of sea Dawg ball handling miscues kept the Players in the game to a 67-67 tie at the half.

To start the third quarter, the Players put their center, Thomas Pfaff, on Brett Blizzard. This slowed him down, but not the Players as they continued to race up and down the court. Good PrimeTime defense and outside shooting along with Sea Dawg repeated carelessness with the ball let PrimeTime push out to a lead of 19 points, 115-96.

In the fourth, the Players went back to a conventional defense but by then the damage to the Sea Dawgs had been done. Chris Moore then put on a bit of a one man show, shooting the lights out from outside and driving inside. And with that, the Sea Dawg winning streak is stopped at one.

The Sea Dawgs next home action will be Sunday, May 12 at 5:00 PM as they host Big Texas of Jacksonville.
