New Jersey Pride News Release

CARSON, CA - The New Jersey Pride had what was once a six goal lead down to two, but the Los Angeles Riptide weathered the small storm and held on for a 15-9 win at the Home Depot Center .

Down 9-3 in the third quarter, the Pride made a run to cut the game to two with a pair of goals by Scott Urick sandwiched around tallies by Matt Rewkowski and Liam Banks. The Riptide answered that run right back with a two goal flurry of their own to make it 11-7 after three quarters.

"We didn't play well offensively again,'' said Pride head coach Peter Jacobs. "We need to do a better job on that end of the field if we want to win.''

Riptide goalie Mickey Jarboe was named the Bud Light Game MVP for his 16 save performance. Los Angeles also got four goals from Buggs Combs and three others from Spencer Ford.

For the Pride, Urick scored four goals, giving him 198 goals for his career and leaving him just two shy of being only the third player in league history to reach 200 goals. Mark Millon (Bayhawks) and Jesse Hubbard of New Jersey.

Liam Banks also had three goals for the Pride, and Kyle Harrison and Rewskowski had the others.

The Riptide opened up a 8-2 lead by the 8:37 mark of the second quarter as the home squad scored the four three goals of the second frame. Sean Lindsay, Spencer Ford and Buggs Combs (2) all found the back of the net in that span. Scott Urick broke the streak at the 6:21 mark when he took a pass from Conor Ford and ripped a corner to make it 8-3. The first half would end with that same score.

The game started in a frenzy with the Pride and Riptide trading goals on each of their first two possessions. Liam Banks and Scott Urick got the Pride on the board in the first minute. Spencer Ford tallied the first pair for Los Angeles. The Riptide took a 4-2 lead after one quarter when Sean Lindsay and Michael Watson added consecutive tallies to break the early tie.

The Rewkowski goal was the first of his career after being acquired from the Denver Outlaws in the offseason.
