
Pride outlast Surf 15-10

(Nashua, NH) Nashua Designated Hitter Glenn Murray went four-for-four and drove in five runs Thursday night to lead the Pride to a 15-10 victory over the Atlantic City Surf at Historic Holman Stadium. Murray's hits included a pair of doubles and his Atlantic League-leading 14th home run. The Nashua captain was tied briefly for the league's home run lead as teammate Brian Becker belted his 13th in the first inning. Murray's three-run shot came in the third. Becker wound up with three hits and three RBI on the night.
Pride third baseman Shane Hopper added a three-run homer in the second inning, his second of the year as the Pride built a 12-2 advantage after three innings.
Nashua (29-24) and Atlantic City (27-26) combined for 34 hits. For the Surf it was a season-high in that category. The Pride and the Surf are the top offensive teams in the league.
With his five RBI performance, Murray has tied Atlantic City's Dario Delgado for the Atlantic League lead in that category with 41.
Al Benjamin had four hits and an RBI for the Surf while teammate Raul Marval added three hits including his fourth home run of the season.
Pride reliever Jason Blanton (2-0) took over for starter Rob Averette in the fourth inning to record the win. Blanton allowed four runs and six hits over four and one-third innings.
Atlantic City starter Mark Persails went four innings, allowing 15 hits and 15 runs, 13 of them earned.
The Pride and the Surf resume their five-game series tomorrow evening with a twi-night doubleheader at Historic Holman Stadium. The first game gets under way at 5:05. Fireworks will follow the second game.
