Pride General Manger Trey Reeder Stepping Down

New Jersey Pride News Release
CLIFTON, NJ - Trey Reeder, General Manager of the New Jersey Pride for the last three seasons, announced today that he is stepping down from his post, and has accepted a position outside the world of lacrosse. Reeder had served a variety of positions within the league since its inaugural season in 2001 including General Manager of two franchises in three different cities.
Reeder exits after bringing stability to the New Jersey franchise for the last three seasons, assembling a team that has gone 11-25 in his tenure, but has lost a total of nine games by two goals or less the last two years. He was brought in following a 1-11 Pride season in 2004, which saw the team lose 11-straight. By his second full season he had rebuilt the team to within one game of the playoffs.
"It wasn't an easy decision to leave,'' said Reeder. "I have poured my heart into this league for seven-plus years and see a lot of greatness in its future. There was just an opportunity presented to me that I felt was best for myself and my family."
Reeder is also the man responsible for adding head coach Peter Jacobs as well as nine picks, four in the first round, in the upcoming MLL Collegiate Draft, widely considered one of the deepest in the eight year history of the league.
"I am leaving the Pride at a great time for their franchise,'' Reeder said. "With several top selections in this year's draft, I feel confident that Peter Jacobs and the team will be able to see some incredible success for the 2008 season."
Reeder was brought to New Jersey after the 2004 season, one in which he guided the Philadelphia Barrage to the MLL Championship, and built the framework for a team that has captured the last two MLL titles.
Before serving as General Manager of the Philadelphia Barrage, he worked in the MLL league offices as Director of Lacrosse Operations. Before that, he spent time in the Bridgeport Barrage's front office managing ticket sales and operations during the fledgling years of the league. He first took the role of General Manager for the Barrage in 2003.
"It has been a rewarding experience to be a part of a start-up league like Major League Lacrosse," Reeder said. "I have been lucky enough to serve many roles within the league and it's teams and have many great memories.
"I am thankful to the various people who have made this opportunity to work in this league possible. People like Ken Paul, who first gave me my opportunity in Bridgeport, and Bob Brown and Bob Turco for bringing me in to help rebuild New Jersey. Mostly I am thankful for Jake Steinfeld and Dave Morrow's vision to even start this league. It is great for the sport for young players throughout the country to have professional lacrosse players to admire in a similar fashion to other sports."
Pride Assistant General Manager Steve Ferretti will serve as interim General Manager in Reeder's absence until a permanent hire is made.
