New Jersey Pride News Release
CLIFTON - The New Jersey Pride, the Garden State's only professional lacrosse team, announced today the acquisition of midfielder Greg Peyser from the Philadelphia Barrage. In exchange for the versatile midfielder, New Jersey gave Philadelphia its first round pick in the 2007 MLL Collegiate Draft, the fifth overall selection.
"Greg is a key who is going to come in here and make an impact as a two-way middie, and as someone who can also face off,'' said Pride General Manager Trey Reeder. "This is an excellent addition to our team.''
Peyser, a 2006 graduate of Johns Hopkins University, was selected ninth overall by the Philadelphia Barrage in the 2006 MLL Collegiate Draft. He played in eight games for Philadelphia last summer, and scored seven points on three goals and four assists. His best game might have come in the New Balance MLL Championship game, where he picked up eight ground balls.
"I think Greg showed his versatility last season in being able to do a little bit of everything,'' said Reeder. "We're certainly going to count on his athleticism and his ability to do a lot of things.''
Peyser graduated Johns Hopkins as the school's All-time leader in face-off winning percentage, and was a two-way middie for the Blue Jays. He was also a member of their National Championship team in 2005. In that season, he was named to the NCAA All-Tournament team, and .620 winning percentage on face-offs (75-for-121).
