LAST TIME OUT: Saint Louis FC played to a 1-1 draw against Harrisburg City Islanders Saturday night at World Wide Technology Soccer Park. After Harrisburg took a 1-0 lead into halftime, Sam Fink equalized with a powerful header in the 70th minute to give the hosts a point. STL FC has lost only once in its last seven league games.
THE OPPONENT: Sporting Kansas City will coming off 10 days' rest when it welcomes Saint Louis FC to Sporting Park on Tuesday night. In its last match on June 6, Sporting KC defeated Seattle Sounders FC 1-0 to extend its unbeaten run in the MLS to seven games.
U.S. OPEN CUP: STL FC advanced to Tuesday's match by defeating NASL side Minnesota United FC in penalty kicks on May 27. In the shootout, Brandon Barklage, Oskar Gasecki, and Patrick Doody all converted from the spot while Mark Pais made one save. This will be Saint Louis' third game in the 2015 Open Cup, while Sporting KC will be playing its first.
QUICK TURNAROUND: Tuesday's match will be the second of three games in a six-day span for Saint Louis FC. After the match in Kansas City, the team returns to USL competition by hosting Colorado Springs Switchbacks at Marshall Wireless Stadium on Friday night.
