Cedar Rapids River Kings News Release
Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Titans (3-2) will look to use the momentum from last weekend's win over the reigning IFL champion Sioux Falls Storm as they take on the Green Bay Blizzard (1-4) tomorrow night at the US Cellular Center. The Blizzard, coming off of a bye week, last played on March 18 as they took down the reigning Intense Conference champion Nebraska Danger 66-60 in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Cedar Rapids rookie quarterback Dylan Favre is coming off of the best game of his professional career as he completed 21 of 26 passes (81% completion percentage) for 190 yards and four touchdowns against the Storm last Saturday. Favre added 35 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground on his way to earning Week 6 IFL Offensive Player of the Week honors. Favre's completion percentage (69%) through five games on the season is second-highest in the Indoor Football League.
When Green Bay comes to Cedar Rapids for the second time Saturday, they'll also have a rookie at the helm. Behrendt (6'2, 205 - University of Wisconsin-Whitewater) had the best game of his season when they last played two weeks ago, completing 15 of 22 passes for 176 yards. Behrendt's seven passing touchdowns against the Danger remains a league single-game high so far this season. Through five games, Behrendt is 82/147 (55.8%) for 864 yards and a league-high 19 touchdowns.
Titans running back and kick returner Waymon James continues to have a consistent sophomore season. Through five games, James is second in the league in rushing attempts (61) and rushing yards (256) while being third in all-purpose yardage (686). James averages 137.2 all-purpose yards per game.
Behrendt also leads the Blizzard on the ground, having recorded 208 rushing yards on 34 attempts.
Although he is a newcomer to Cedar Rapids, Titans wide receiver Jared Elmore has shown he certainly isn't a newcomer to the sport, having caught a league-high 28 passes in five appearances. Elmore is second in the league in receiving yards (313) and receiving touchdowns (9).
Leading the Blizzard in receiving will be familiar face for Titans fans. Former Titan Bryan Pray (2013-2015) leads Green Bay in virtually every receiving category: receptions (24), receiving yards (264), and receiving touchdowns (7).
Kickoff is slated for 7:05 p.m. tomorrow night from Mediacom Field at the U.S. Cellular Center in downtown Cedar Rapids. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. for the Titans' Ultimate Tailgate Party held on the arena concourse where hot dogs, sodas, and draft beers will be available for $2 from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
