MUSKEGON, Mich. - The Muskegon Lumberjacks have announced that President of Hockey Operations Steve Lowe has signed a five-year contract extension.

Lowe, a native of Kitchener, Ontario, is now in his third season as the President of Hockey Operations with the Lumberjacks. Originally, Lowe signed a three-year deal with the franchise that included an option for a contract extension near the end of his term.

"We offered Steve an extension because we want to have long-term sustained success for the Muskegon Lumberjacks," said Lumberjacks owner Dan Israel. "We believe that Steve's experience is critical to make that happen."

"I'd like to thank ownership and my family for supporting me," said Lowe, "I'm excited to sign with the Lumberjacks for another five years. My goal is to bring a Clark Cup championship to Muskegon."

Lowe attributes his wife Christy, and daughters Lahana and Lily, as reasons for staying put in Muskegon for another five years.

"The enjoyment my wife and two daughters get out of watching and following the Lumberjacks, in addition to our family involvement with the team made it an easy decision to stay in West Michigan."

Before his time with the Lumberjacks, Lowe oversaw and rebuilt the USHL's Tri-City Storm as President of Hockey Operations for six seasons, winning the Clark Cup as playoff champions in 2015-16 and an Anderson Cup title as regular-season champions in 2018-19.

As a player, Lowe was drafted by the NHL's Dallas Stars in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft and played 11 seasons of professional hockey from 1993 to 2004.
