President & COO Bob Welch Resigns from the Chicago Storm
February 15, 2005 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
Chicago Storm News Release
Chicago (Tuesday, February 15, 2005) â The Chicago Storm announced today that their President and Chief Operating Office Bob Welch has resigned from his position with the organization. Welch joined the Storm last June to assemble an office staff and prepare for the inaugural season.
"We are sad to see Bob go," said Storm Chairman and CEO Viktor Jakovljevic. "We have had some differences of opinion as to the direction the team needs to go, in order to be successful and we felt a change was necessary. We wish Bob all the best and thank him for his contributions to the Storm. Bob did a great job assembling a quality front office and helping get us started for our first season. He will be missed."
Prior to joining the Storm, Welch was the Executive Director of Sponsorship Sales and Marketing for the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.
"I felt that the ownership wanted to take the team in to another direction," said Welch. "That direction is contrary to the direction I feel the team needs to go to achieve long term success. We worked very hard to get the Storm to where it is today and I wish them the best in the future."
Formed on June 3, 2004, the Chicago Storm became the ninth team in the MISL, joining the two-time defending champion Baltimore Blast, Cleveland Force, Kansas City Comets, Milwaukee Wave, Philadelphia Kixx and St. Louis Steamers. Storm home games are played at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago. The Storm front office is located at 411 South Sangamon, Suite B in Chicago.
